“Maximum success in minimum visibility” is the claim: the TX Encounter from Swarovski can be used as a stand-alone thermal monocular or as a riflescope clip-on without the need to sight in. It allows ethical hunters to observe, record and share hunting experiences at night, twilight, and in rain and fog.

The newly introduced TX Encounter is Swarovski's solution for night hunting, a dual-purpose thermal imaging device that can be used as a stand-alone monocular or a riflescope clip-on. The TX Encounter allows ethical hunters to “see more, observe better, record and share hunting experiences” thanks to its multimedia functions. “The TX Encounter thermal imaging device extends your hunting day and delivers a perfect, detailed image in every situation. It makes it easier to locate and correctly judge game in difficult weather conditions and at night,” they say at Swarovski. Let's delve into the matter further.

First, some technical specs: the Swarovski TX Encounter has a 35 mm/f1.0 objective lens and features a 640x480 pixel sensor resolution with 12 µm pixel size, a 2560x2048 pixel screen resolution and provides a field of view of 21.6x16.3 m at 100 m. Digital magnification is 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x. Its thermal imaging technology makes it easy to detect and identify animals through the heat they emit at night, at twilight, and in rain and fog. This also contributes to ethical hunting, especially if you attach the imager to a Swarovski riflescope – the manufacturer guarantees 100% accuracy even without sighting in – which can be done in no time thanks to Swarovski Optik's thermal imaging tMA quick adapter. The latter is a practical add-on for the existing tMA(+) thermal monocular adapters and allows quick and easy conversion from hand-held to clip-on mode. The adapter remains completely attached to the objective lens of the rifle scope and the TX Encounter can be used without restriction for observation and then, if required, secured in perfect alignment on the rifle scope using a quick clamping lever. (An RC remote control can be used to operate the main functions of the TX Encounter when used as a clip-on.)

With the TX Encounter you can also record and share your hunting experiences: the RAV (Recoil Activated Video) function automatically captures the hunting experience at the time of the shot, and the videos are saved in the Swarovski Optik Outdoor app. There is even a slow-motion function that allows a more detailed review of the recordings. Photos and videos can be shared instantly at the touch of a button – including as live streams – and points of interest (POIs), such as certain animals, can be marked and immediately displayed.

The energy-saving SWAROLIGHT automatic switch-on/off timer saves energy and extends the battery life of the TX Encounter, so that the device is ready for use when needed. Two batteries are supplied with the TX Encounter and thanks to the special shape and the bayonet catch battery replacement is quick and intuitive, even in complete darkness. A charger, a USB charging cable, protective covers, a field bag, and a cleaning cloth are also included.

As usual, quality comes at a price, which in the case of the Swarovski TX Encounter starts from €4,780.
