Piaggio Aerospace
Piaggio Aerospace has delivered its first P.180 Avanti EVO executive aircraft with a new pilot night vision assistance system to a customer in North America.
The Italian aircraft manufacturer, which was bought by Turkish drone maker Baykar in December 2024, announced that the P.180 Avanti EVO was sold equipped with an Enhanced Vision System (EVS).
Piaggio said on March 10, 2025, that the new system was “designed to improve pilots’ vision at night and in low-visibility conditions”.
“This system comprises a high-resolution digital camera integrated with infrared technology, providing real-time information to the pilot and co-pilot’s multifunction display,” said a spokesperson for Piaggio Aerospace.
Piaggio’s new customer was described as a young businessman from Missouri who had selected an eight-passenger VIP configuration with a custom grey and blue livery.
According to the company, a further 11 other Avanti EVOs are currently in production at Piaggio Aerospace’s factory in Villanova d’Albenga.
The Avanti EVO is just over 14 meters long and is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A–66B engines. The aircraft can fly up to 1,800 nautical miles with its two Hartzell ve-scimitar blade propellers.
In January 2025, the preliminary contract for the transfer of Piaggio Aero Industries and Piaggio Aviation – the two companies operating under the Piaggio Aerospace brand – to Baykar was signed.
